Caring & Sharing

On behalf of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. – Theta Zeta Lambda Chapter, we are proud to continue the legacy of our charter member, Dr. Thomas A. Bass, through the Caring & Sharing Food Basket Delivery Program. For decades, this initiative has provided food baskets during Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas to families in need and honor widows of deceased fraternity brothers with a fruit basket and flowers across Washtenaw County and surrounding communities.

In addition to food baskets, our Caring & Sharing Program extends its impact through:

  • Family Essentials Drive – Distributing hygiene kits, cleaning supplies, baby items, and school supplies through partnerships with local churches, barbershops, and community centers.
  • Senior Connection Program – Supporting elders and widows with monthly wellness calls, home visits, and care packages.
  • Winter Attire Clothes Drive & Toys for Tots – Collect monetary and merchandise donations for new or gently used coats, hats, gloves, and unused toys for children and families.
  • Christmas Family Sponsorship – Partner with YoungLives to fulfill wish lists for single mothers with children.
  • Certified CPR Training initiative – Provide lifesaving skills that can double or triple survival rates in emergencies.

These efforts provide not only essential resources but also dignity, comfort, and hope.

How Can You Help?

We invite you to support these programs through:

  • Financial Contributions – Your donations directly fund food baskets, supplies, and family sponsorships.
  • In-Kind Donations – Coats, toys, hygiene products, and other essentials are always welcome.
  • Volunteer Service – Join us in delivering baskets, making wellness calls, or serving at events.

Your generosity will strengthen families, uplift seniors, and bring joy to children when they need it most.

To donate or learn more, please call Jermel Ray at (734) 486-3581 or Matthew Coats at (734) 634-2140, or email us at caringsharing@annarboralphas.org. Together, we can continue building a stronger, more compassionate community.
